校长寄语

南侨一步一个脚印，走来不易。最初是建在金炎路的民办南侨师范学校，二战时校舍成为抗击敌军、保卫新加坡的星华义勇军总部，战后改为南侨女子中学并附设小学，再之后招收男生并改校名为南侨中学，最后迁至盛港重新落户扎根。岁月的推移，时光的洗礼，见证了学校的发展，更见证了许许多多爱护南侨的人艰苦卓绝的奋斗。

回首往日，我们自豪；展望未来，我们向往。21世纪的科技、经济、政治、社会瞬息万变，难以预料，但是“以古为鉴，可知兴替”，我们深厚的历史沉淀饱含了前人的经验与精神，让我们得以从中汲取智慧与力量，帮助我们养成德性，令我们识见高远、心胸广大，得以洞悉未来、荟萃中西，最终裨益社会。

陈嘉庚先生毕生以诚信勤俭办教育公益，为社会服务。南侨因为前人的热诚与坚毅而屹立不倒，也因为今人的真挚热爱与坚持得以继续发光发热，而我们可以作为回报的，唯有专心培育好好学不倦、勇于人先、同心共济、精通双语的后来者。

树人如树木，抚育幼苗长成参天大树须要百年，培育孩子成长的道路更是漫长。正所谓“致广大而尽精微”，在这远无止境的树人道路上坚持不懈、埋头苦干的是一群幕后的英雄。这一路上，新加坡福建会馆给予学校鼎力的支持、校友报以母校无尽的感恩和关爱、家长伙伴给予无私的默契配合、更加上教职团队的精忠团结，让南侨得以乘风破浪勇敢前行，让南侨学子得以振翅高飞，俯视世界。由衷感谢！

让我们继续为南侨而骄傲吧！

Nan Chiau High School’s indomitable spirit has been forged through the years by many who have proudly witnessed its establishment in its founding days, fiercely protected it through the warring years, and continued to guide it through the many seasons of change.   

Being part of Nan Chiau, we can be proud of the school’s rich history and legacy. At the same time, we can look forward to the future with eager anticipation as we imagine the possibilities of what we can achieve together.

Let us not forget the spirit with which the founding father,  Mr Tan Kah Kee, established the school. A man who ardently believed in bettering the lives of others, he was a man of his word who stayed true to his mission his whole life, and was resolute even when faced with adversity. He has left behind a compelling and indelible legacy for those who come after him, a call to action for us to do the same. Therefore, in the same way, let us continue to press on as we nurture the next generation to be future-ready and lifelong learners who will strive to contribute to society in their own ways.

I would like to end off by thanking many who have worked tirelessly and quietly behind the scenes to ensure that the children have a meaningful education. Thank you to the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan and the school alumni for your unwavering support to the school, to the parents for your strong partnership, and the school staff for your unity and dedication in nurturing the students.

Let’s look forward to building on the shoulders of the giants who have come before us so that Nan Chiau High School will continue to be a beacon of light!
